Co-extruded multi-layer films for packaging attain better functionalities than single-layer films as they are comprised of two or more materials with distinct properties. Through co-extrusion, multiple polymers are melted and extruded simultaneously through a single die to create a multi-layer film. This process allows for precise control over the thickness of each layer. Multi-layer films are equipped with enough strength and stability, making them useful and easy to use.

In the 1970’s, DIC was the pioneer in Japan to manufacture and market co-extruded multi-layer films using the T-die process. Multi-layer films for packaging can be used for food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, industrial packaging, and various other consumer goods.

T-Die Process Outline:

Applications:

1 Pet Food Packaging

Allows for excellent retort ability and good machinability (for high-speed packing)

2) Fruits, Salads & Fresh Meat Packaging

Unique structure of material allows end users to open product smoothly

3) Ready Meals & Retort Food Packaging

Note: This offers High heat resistance, making it suitable for ready meals that can be cooked on the microwave. It also allows for anti-fog function so that customers can easily see their food.

4) Fruit Syrup and Jelly Packaging

Protects food with its high seal strength
